YOUNG FILMS is an Independent film production company focused on the production of films that appeal to an international audience. Founded by Carla Altieri and Roberto De Paolis in 2014 in Rome, the Company's curricula ranges from shorts film, documentaries and features and more recently, TV series.
Carla has been a production manager and line producer for over 15 years and has worked on some of the most important films of the last decade including Alice Rohrwacher's Le Meraviglie, Philippe Garrel's Un été brulant, John Turturro's Passion and Il Divo by Paolo Sorrentino.
Roberto is a film director and photographer. His works have been exhibited in Art Galleries and Museums around the world and his first feature - Cuori Puri (Pure Hearts) - was selected and presented at the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
The two producers first met when Roberto shot his two shorts, Bassa Marea and Alice, which Carla line produced. Both films were presented at the Venice Film Festival in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Young Films debuted co-producing the documentary Fuoristrada directed by Elisa Amoruso, winner of the Special mention at the Rome Film Festival in 2013. In 2014, Young produced the short film Casarola directed by Lorenzo Castore, a tribute to the Bernardo Bertolucci’s family home.
The film opened the Rome Film Festival for the occasion of the restoration of Bertolucci's first film. In 2016 Young Films co-produced the documentary Saro directed by Enrico Maria Artale - winner of the Torino Film Festival in the same year - and Roberto De Paolis’ feature debut Cuori Puri; both films were nominated in the final five of the David di Donatello Awards in 2018, respectively for Best Documentary and Best New Director. After Cannes, Cuori Puri went on to complete a successful festival circuit, winning numerous accalades.
In 2021, Les Fils de Cain, Keti Stamo’s directorial debut, co-produced with France and Albania, was presented at the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia in Notti Veneziane. Also in 2021, Rachel Greenwood joined the team after 18 years in film distribution to work on Company PR, development and International sales.
In 2022, Roberto’s second feature, Princess, coproduced by Indigo Film with RAI Cinema was selected as the Opening Film, in competition, of Orizzonti at the Venice Film Festival and was distributed in Italy by Lucky Red the same year.
In 2023, Enrico Maria Artale’s first feature film, El Paraìso with Edoardo Pesce and Margherita Rosa de Francisco, co-produced by Ascent Film, was selected in competition at Orizzonti at the Venice Film Festival the same year, winning Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress.
Young Films are currently finishing post-production on Milad Tangshir’s first feature film Anywhere, Anytime, co-produced by Vivo Film.
